🌟 Seeing the Stars: Finding Purpose in the Seeds You Plant
Have you ever found yourself in a season where you’re questioning your identity or the impact of your work? Recently, I found myself in that very place. Even something as simple as naming my podcast became a moment of wrestling with who I am and what I am called to do.
I had originally launched under the name Training Them Up with Coach Lori Lopez… but soon realized someone else had a similar name. My teacher heart immediately cringed — I don’t like to copy! I wrestled with it all morning and finally paused to ask the Holy Spirit for guidance.
And wouldn’t you know it, He answered.
A Box Under the Bed and a Whisper from Heaven
When I returned from my morning walk, my eyes fell on a box under my bed that read: “Seeing the Stars.” It felt like the Lord was nudging me to slow down, quiet my soul, and remember who I am in Him.
He brought me to Genesis 15, where Abraham was in his own identity crisis. He longed to be a father but feared leaving his inheritance to his servant. God met him in his doubt with this promise:
“Look toward heaven and count the stars, if you are able to count them. Then He said to him, ‘So shall your descendants be.’ And he believed the Lord; and the Lord reckoned it to him as righteousness.” – Genesis 15:5
The moment Abraham believed, his identity shifted. He wasn’t just a man waiting for a child — he was a father of nations.
A Dream that Planted Hope
As I reflected on that scripture, the Holy Spirit reminded me of a dream He once gave me during a season when I felt my work was insignificant.
In the dream, Jesus held my hand as we walked toward a church. Families were gathering outside, and He drew my attention to the playground.
“Do you recognize that man throwing the football?” He asked.
I squinted and said, “No.”
“That’s Tres when he’s older, with his brother. Look over there — that beautiful girl with his mother is his wife, and those are his children. He is a pastor here, a father, and My son. His love for Me was planted in your living room when you taught him to pray and talk to Me.”
In that moment, I realized that every seed we plant in the lives of children matters. Even if they seem small. Even if they forget our names. Heaven never forgets.
Your Seeds Matter
Friends, when you feel like you’re not making a difference, remember this:
Every prayer whispered over a child is a seed.
Every gentle word is a seed.
Every moment you model the love of Jesus is a seed.
What we sow into little hearts today will echo into generations we may never meet. 🌱
So, keep sowing in faith. Keep trusting. Your impact is written in the stars.
Scripture to Meditate On:“Look toward heaven and count the stars… so shall your descendants be.” – Genesis 15:5
Call to Action for the Heart: This week, choose to see your daily acts of love as eternal seeds. Ask the Lord to open your eyes to the harvest you are already planting in the lives around you.
